did the math, during a certain Verizon promotion and my work discount it ended up costing me less to go with 3GB/mo and a new phone, and I usually only use 2 with wifi

I use between 10 and 12 GB a month (no home or work wifi). I'll look into whether they have a cheaper data plan in that range.

can’t hurt, but also Amazon and Motorola sell unlocked phones. I was able to update without losing my grandfathered plan that way in the past.
